Va Compensation Rates 2024 Smc K. Va special monthly compensation (smc) is a higher rate of compensation that we pay to veterans as well as their spouses, surviving spouses, and parents with certain needs or disabilities. To find the amount payable to a 70% disabled veteran with a spouse and four children, one of whom is over 18 and attending school, take the 70% rate for a veteran.
